Reaching to Mastura Village

There is a direct bus service to Mastura from Rudraprayag. The place is at 6,200 ft from sea level and fully loaded with a variety of Flora & Fauna. it is also home to numerous domestic and migrated birds, one who loves to be this close to nature will surely enjoy staying here. People have started picking this location as a base camp location over Sari, as it is densely crowded and commercialized.
Day 2

Mastura to Deoriatal to Chopta

Trek from Mastura to Deoriatal is of 5.5kms. The trail from Mastura to Sari is full of village tour sighting, where you get to meet and interact with the localities of the sari, who are too friendly to assist and guide you. Previous year in Oct we have been to the village tour so a lady saw us peeping Oranges. She shouted from her window and asked me to wait there. She invited us, plucked some oranges from tree and cuts into pieces and offered with Pinsyu loon (which they make by some local herbs and salt). Sari is also a perfect place for one who wishes to see village heritage old wooden carved houses. The trail is marked very well to Deoriatal and filled with lush green Rhododendrons and pine trees. While walking uphill’s you can easily spot Tungnath temple and Chandrashila top. Deoriatal Lake is at an altitude of 7,999 ft from sea level, it is surrounded by lush green trees forest and you also get a wide panorama view of snow-covered mountains like the kind of Garhwal Himalayas Chaukhambha, Bandarpoonch, and Kedar Ranges. it is said that Deoriatal is made by great Bheema to appease his thirst, which was suggested by his elder brother Yudhisthir. There is a pathway around the lake, one visiting the place must take a round of it. While taking round you may encounter with the variety of birds especially The Himalayan Monal, The Himalayan Woodpecker and Snow Partridge. Deoriatal is also the best place for meditation, as the chirruping of birds takes you to another world, from where you won’t like to come out. Whenever the weather is clear one can witness the marvelous sunset from the place as you get a beautiful reflection of Chaukhambha and Gangotri ranges on the lake. Post this you can walk back to base camp. Previously there used to be night camping around the lake but now it is totally banned by govt. After reaching take reat Camps will be provided at base Mastura.
Day 3

Mastura to Tungnath & Chandrashila

Many people go early morning for the Chandrashila summit to pay their visit to beautiful sunrise And most of the trekkers start post-sunrise as it uses to be very cold in the morning, the trail to Tungnath is totally man-made and passing through the dense Rhododendron trees. The initial 1kms patch is a bit difficult as the height gradually increases, the moment this patch is completed you get a beautiful meadow site and a small shepherd yard with hundreds of mountain goats, there is a small dhaba as well where you can have a cup of tea made by goat milk and relax for a while(close in winter). Rest the route is zig-zag and easy to climb. Trail gets difficult when it snows as no one can identify the exact trails, although the trek is of 4Kms but takes around 3hrs to complete. During snowfall, it takes around 5-6 hrs for completion. More you on trails the Mountains become more bold and bold. Once reaching the Temple premises you feel blessed to be there as you summit the World Highest Lord Shiva temple at an altitude of 11,352 ft from sea level and believed to be 5000 years old and made by Arjuna. Tungnath Ji gates open generally in May and close by end of October, during these months one can easily have darshan of Tungnath Mahadev, Tungnath is 3rd Kedar and said to be more powerful than other four Kedar. Post you may descend back to Chopta and chill out in Moksha Cafe to have some coffee and pancakes. Rest it’s up to you whether to stay in Chopta or drive back to Mastura to take a morning bus to Rudraprayag. OVERNIGHT AT MASTURA.
