Mastura to Deoriatal to Chopta
Trek from Mastura to Deoriatal is of 5.5kms. The trail from Mastura to Sari is full of village tour sighting, where you get to meet and interact with the localities of the sari, who are too friendly to assist and guide you. Previous year in Oct we have been to the village tour so a lady saw us peeping Oranges. She shouted from her window and asked me to wait there. She invited us, plucked some oranges from tree and cuts into pieces and offered with Pinsyu loon (which they make by some local herbs and salt).
Sari is also a perfect place for one who wishes to see village heritage old wooden carved houses.
The trail is marked very well to Deoriatal and filled with lush green Rhododendrons and pine trees. While walking uphill’s you can easily spot Tungnath temple and Chandrashila top. Deoriatal Lake is at an altitude of 7,999 ft from sea level, it is surrounded by lush green trees forest and you also get a wide panorama view of snow-covered mountains like the kind of Garhwal Himalayas Chaukhambha, Bandarpoonch, and Kedar Ranges. it is said that Deoriatal is made by great Bheema to appease his thirst, which was suggested by his elder brother Yudhisthir.
There is a pathway around the lake, one visiting the place must take a round of it. While taking round you may encounter with the variety of birds especially The Himalayan Monal, The Himalayan Woodpecker and Snow Partridge. Deoriatal is also the best place for meditation, as the chirruping of birds takes you to another world, from where you won’t like to come out. Whenever the weather is clear one can witness the marvelous sunset from the place as you get a beautiful reflection of Chaukhambha and Gangotri ranges on the lake.
